So lately i’ve been fooling around with Hist Grove Control’ish Sorcerer.
I’ve been trying to build the deck many times without succes, and have always been a firm believer that the deck cannot be built with the current card pool. Altho, last night on stream i came close to a build that was actually somewhat good. Offstream today i tweaked it a bit more and went from #300 something to #98 today on a huge winning streak, after having tanked from #25 on a full tilt streak playing various midrange builds!
FINAL UPDATE! – 3 Camlorn Sentinel -1 Mundus Stone + 3 Daggerfall’s +1 High King Emeric. Camlorns i didnt feel the need for as i have no problems vs aggro, Daggerfalls provides alot more value in a wide range of matchups. Mundus Stone was a nice addition, but more a Cherry on the top than an actual upgrade to the deck, Emeric is a strong 5/5 body for 6magicka while also having a removal tool, theres also synergy with Daggerfalls and the Storm Atro’s from Dark Rift. Decklist on the right is updated
UPDATE : Tweaked the deck a bit more, 3 Dark Rifts now, no hist speakers, + 3 Camlorn Sentinel, +1 Mundus Stone, + 3 Fate Weaver, – 3 Daggerfalls, -2 x Mummify. Im stable in top 30 with the deck atm
With my small sample size of games, here’s what matchups that are good and arent good. (remember this is a small sample size and the factor of ppl not knowing the deck can play a huge part aswell)
-Merric seems really unfavoured, the fact that Merric can burst you down from 26 makes our gameplan of a long game really bad. Idk yet how to play against it since i havent faced that many Merric decks with this list. I do think you have to play aggresive tho!
-Cycle Archer seems like a good matchup, didnt lose to a single cycle archer. Aggro Mage Hater Archer is a hard matchup. This deck cant beat Blood Dragon sadly. You need mummify for that, so if you lose alot to Blood Dragon tech in 2 x Mummify.
-Control Mage seems like a heavily favoured matchup
-Spellsword token seems like a good matchup
-Spellsword Control i was REALLY worried about not beeing able to beat due to 3 x Shadowfen and Edicts, i played against one guy who was #20’is irrc and won that game. I still think the matchup is unfavoured tho!
-Greedy Ramp Scout seems like an unfavoured matchup due to them having more value and can ramp faster! Its kind of a coinflip against other ramp decks, the one who ramps the most and fastest usually wins. Also finding Shadowfen Priests is deciding.
-Aggro decks in general are good matchups, keep clearing board at all costs and you stabilize around 7 or 8 and win the game. I have no problems with aggro decks with this current list.
Some card explanations :
Dark Rift : The card’s only purpose is to beat Control decks that has alot more value than you, typically yellow (Willpower) I wouldnt play this deck without Rifts since they are so key against Control
Fate Weaver : Prophecy! Card draw ! Synergy with Conjuring aswell!
Camlorn Sentinel : Teched in instead of Daggerfalls just to stop early aggression, also has proph which is a huge deal! The card draw you miss from Daggerfall is provided in Fate Weaver instead, alongside Schemers ofc.
Dark Harvester : Healing is the big issue as Sorcerer therefore Dark Harvester is key in this deck! The fact that you ramp alot also makes Harverster not THAT bad to play from hand. Dark Harvester also becomes a 9magicka threat with desperate conjuring which is key in control matchups! So the card actually has multiple functions in the deck which imo is really strong in a cardgame!
Desperate Conjuring : As explained above this card is for Control Matchups but can also be used as an “oh shit” card against aggro, using it on any minion you have on board! My winrate skyrocketed after putting this card in and it has INSANE synergy with both Dark Harvester AND Nahkriin Dragonpriest
Mundus Stone : My latest crazy idea and might seem weird but it has insane value with Prophecy minions, NightShadow has a big chance to roll charge, for an instant heal, due to already having drain and breakthrough. Rolling Ward on Nahagliiv, Harvesters, Camlorn is also huge, or simply rolling guard on any minion in the deck. The card is performing really good in the deck and also serves as a support removal bait to ensure Hist Groves!
Thats about it for this deck, just did this writeup in 10min for you guys, since ive been asked alot about Dank Meme Sorcerer Lateley So hope you enjoy the deck and maybe want to try it out for yourself!
Note that, in the game currently, you can play any deck to top100 with a bit of skill and a bit of luck, so Im not by any means saying this is a new meta breaking deck or anything. But after testing 100’s of different Ramp/Control Sorcerer builds this is in my experience the best Sorcerer Hist Grove list atm!
I will be streaming this deck mainly in the future, so drop by my twitch and say hi over @ www.twitch.tv/illwill552

My question is, with only the 3 Tree Minders and Hist Groves, you need half of them to hit 15 mana to trigger the Hist. That’s a low percentage chance. Are you just playing them for mana?
