Greetings, citizen.

I’m going to provide you with a guide to my deck, and I hope that you’ll enjoy playing it as much as I, but I would really like to stress that you need more than just knowledge of your own cards to be winning consistently. Knowing your opponent is crucial.

I started playing Legends last month and got Legends with a cheap ass aggro battlemage provided on this site. This month I really wanted to create a deck of my own and try to work out how to make it as competitive as possible.

This version of Scout has been working really well. I have put ALOT of work into trying to make the deck perform better against aggro while still having a real strong end game. This meant cutting alot of pure Ramp/low consistency cards. Out of 6 top 10 encounters, I’ve only lost 2. Generally a positive winrate against high ranked legends. Based on hundreds games played this is my impression of the deck

Easy matchups:
Above average winrate against most Telvanni including altar.
Tribunal (only ever lost 1 game, against absurd luck . 0 losses against control)
Dagoth (mostly wins)
Control Mage (need an answer to Sotha Sil, which this deck lack unless you NTL+Wimpy)

50/50 matchups (or better):
Aggro Sorc (I think positive winrate, including a game against then #2)
Ramp warrior. (done well but never faced someone high ranked)
Redoran (the versions I’ve faced seems doable, but not enough data.

Bad matchups:
Orc warrior (no fun)
Aggro assassin
Any kind of aggro fifth legion Willpower

Deck breakdown:

Scout’s Report : Discard high cost Creatures to set up Defiler if used in the early game. Pick cards for curve/immediate need. Avoid discarding Wimpy if possible
Ald Velothi Assassin : Dreamy opener in most situations. Avoid this as an opener directly into a Ward unless you can trade into it without straight up losing 2 cards for 1. Rallying Necro can be gamebreaking. Trades well all game.
Barrow Stalker : Absolutely necessary vs meta Sorc openers. Will trade into Wardcrafter/Spellsword 1 for 1 while gaining hp. Also great target for Galyn vs Aggro.
Fighters Guild Recruit : The combination of Prophecy, Lethal, Guard is awesome vs aggro but also vs cards without backup such as Odahviing. Not a bad Galyn target against aggro due to Prophecy
Squish the Wimpy : Use mainly for Defiler/Cicero/NTL. Sometimes necessary to use for tempo.
The Night Mother : Don’t use it for no reason. Save it unless you are trading alot, controlling tempo, or able to trigger Cicero/Venomtongue/Defiler for free. Perfect followup after a Falkreath Defiler+Squish the Wimpy turn.
Aundae Clan Sorcerer : Raise Dead is potentionally game breaking, but it can also be nice for trading vs aggro, meta example: Spellsword->Mammoth
Galyn the Shelterer : Too much to say about this card. Use depending on need.
Haunting Spirit : Started using it few days ago with pleasing result. Potentionally the winning card vs aggro, Wimpy to buff a Barrow Stalker has won games. Useful value most of the game.
Indoril Mastermind : See Scout’s Report. Good early target for Necro unless removal is necessary. Best Mulligan option vs non-aggro.
Mummify : Poor man’s Piercing Javelin with the added benefit of potentionally setting up a positive trade for Defiler/Cicero/Venomtongue.
Sanctuary Pet : Will save your hide vs aggro. Very powerful in many situations, especially late if it’s a race to the face. Careful of relying on this vs Fireball/Sorcerers’s Negation
Soul Tear : The general idea is to save it until there’s spare mana to use without losing tempo or unless there’s no other alternatives. Expensive “Oh Shit” card when you need it the most. I use it for desperate Removal ((Necro->)Viper), End game control (Red Bramman) or finishing (Tazkad) mostly.
Archein Venomtongue : This is for greed but also for discouraging bad trades vs aggro. Optional but eats Cast Into Time / Piercing Twilight
Falkreath Defiler : Heart and soul of the deck. There’s so many ways this card potentionally wins the game for you.
Territorial Viper : If I were to add 1 more of any card this would be it. Potentionally you’ll have more through Necromancer though.
Shadowfen Priest : A silence that can trade, expensive but useful. Strong response to Fervor decks as it has same mana.
Thorn Histmage : Main source of Ramp. Ressable with Necro which is a strong option if you alot of draws/cards.
Cicero the Betrayer : Biggest greed-card. The fact that it’s ressable with Necro can sometimes be abused to the point of opponent conceding.
Flesh Atronach : Late game win condition. While it can be an OTK you dont have to wait that long to use it, in fact I normally use it at 12-15 power. You can ress it with Necro after your opponent uses their last removals to kill it the first time.
Odirniran Necromancer : Most useful card there is. Goto target for Galyn vs non-aggro. A 6/6 Necro that can ress Red Bramman will straight up win you the game. Any rallied can get up Galyn and Sovngarde gets Dark Seducer. Cicero->Mastermind->Histmage->Venomtongue vs Greed. Viper->Sanc Pet->Histmage vs aggro. Late game ressing Flesh Atronach is winning.
Journey to Sovngarde : Save it until you can play Flesh Atronach if possible, within reason. This is a win condition though, so don’t hold onto it too long if you have decent board control.
Dark Seducer : If you’re up vs aggro and they have no silences at turn 7-9, this will win you the game hands down. Also great target for Defiler ressurrection if discarded/killed.
Night Talon Lord : Late game greed. Not the most consistent card, but can be winning.
Red Bramman : Probably the single most useful card in the deck vs non-aggro. Tremendous value if ressed by a Galyn buffed Necro.
Tazkad the Packmaster : Good for finishing or creating tempo. Not a bad late Galyn target. Only option for Breakthrough with wimpy. Used Galyn on this alot vs Tribunal decks. 9 dmg face + 8 or whatever with wimpy breakthrough ends the game quickly
Odahviing : The dream card to discard with Scout’s Report/Mastermind. Game winning with Defiler+Wimpy. Best response to Conscript

Try to play around Piercing Twilight / Cast Into Time. You know they wanna do it, so give them suboptimal targets such as Aundue / Archein. Or give them a defiler if you have 2. Letting then banish Necro turn 6 is bad news. Hold on to Wimpy as long as possible, until you see the 1st Piercing Twilight or until you have 2. Let them deplete alot of answers to it.

Don’t play into Blizzard

Try to be conservative. Your card-draw is more consistent than theirs due to having 50 cards only. You don’t need to flood the board unless you get a really strong opening. Cicero helps, they are unlikely to spend a “banish” on him

If the game goes on, try hold onto NTL + 1x Wimpy if possible, or Bramman if you can. Scout has few other good answers to Sotha Sil.

Sovngarde has won be alot of games, you’ll draw it more often than they will their 1x Memory Wraith. All in all, If you dodge Memory Wraith you’re in fighting shape. You’ll be able to play Flesh Atronach at +10 power to draw removals and then bringing him back through Necro. Puts alot of pressure

I’ve met several of the best Tribunal players over the last week at legend and I’ve come to understand it’s tougher to face then I thought. Especially since alot of Tribunal players has started playing faster openings. But I would still say you’re favored if you play to your strength

I wanted to start playing ramp decks for a long time and, unlike many other decks, this one seems to work really well for me. Ramp decks in general are very different to what I’m used to and I find them not exactly easy to start playing with right away, so thank you very much for detailed description smile-2263098

Unfortunately, I lack some key legendaries, so I had to replace 2 Aundae Clan Sorcerer with 1 Territorial Viper and 1 Fighters Guild Recruit, Journey to Sovngarde with Blood Magic Lord and Red Bramman/Odahviing with 2 Hulking Scalon.

The Hulking Scalon turned out especially nice as a posh body that can not be removed by actions or lethal creatures. I’m still going to craft Journey to Sovngarde, it’s a card of tremendous value!

Yeah I have no idea how you did anything with this deck in an aggro *infested* ladder. I’m playing behind *literally* every game hands down. And no. Im not shit. Its simple math and basic card knowledge. Been playing this game since beta.

Haven’t lost, incorporated shadow shift.

I love this deck, but I get smashed by werewolves decks, especially since they seem to always start perfectly
