Because the player has to have ‘unspent magicka’, I think this card will see much more play in decks that can afford to sit on their thumbs for a turn, such as control Telvanni.
That being said, this seems to be a great card against aggro decks, not only because of Martin’s high health, but also because many aggro decks cannot deal with large Guard creatures coming out several turns early (e.g. , )
